It's my dream

Dale Jr. going to Hendrick Team!

Oh my goodness, I just watched Dale Jr.'s announcement about who he'll be driving for starting in 2008 and was totally shocked!

I'm not sure why but I honestly thought he'd be going to drive for Richard Childress and never expected him going to Hendrick Motorsports.

Dale Jr. is one of my favorite drivers [along with Ryan Newman, of course!]

He just made this announcement less than an hour ago and well, I just thought I'd post it for those who haven't heard yet.

I'm such a procrastinator!

I can not believe how bad I’ve gotten over the past month in writing on my blog.

To be honest, I really don’t know why either ... the best excuse I can come up with is procrastination. lameexcuse, huh? a-lol

It seems that I’ve not gotten a whole lot done over the past few weeks [though I’ve constantly been busy!]

Times like that are really discouraging, if ya know what I mean? cry

Last week was a frustrating one or at least the end of the week was anyways.

On Friday I went to use my new cell phone [not quite three weeks old!] and it wouldn’t turn on.

I called the Cell One store and basically what they told me to do was to charge it and if it still didn’t turn on, to call them back.

Well, that’s just what I did and ... it still wouldn’t turn on.

Then, that evening we got quite a storm and ended up with no electric until Saturday afternoon.

How thankful I am, that on that day ... I had the foresight to go out to Walmart on the bus and buy a lantern [which come in handy, for sure!]

On Saturday I called Cell One again to let them know the phone still wasn’t working and they told me to bring it down.

That’s a major hassle for me because the store I bought it at was 20+ miles away and I have no vehicle.

Thankfully, my daughter took me down there on Monday and the store swapped that phone out for a new one that does work.

I was worried that they might try to make me let them send it in to be repaired and I did not want that.

The way I figure it, if you buy something and don’t have it quite three weeks and have a problem ... then most likely that’s what you’ll continue to have, ya know?

Everything worked out well though, I got a new phone and so all is well. godisgood

I’ve tried to be frugal lately but it hasn’t seemed to be working very well.

Actually, I hadn’t done too awful bad until yesterday and then I went and bought a new small rocking chair for my bedroom [I didn’t buy it at Walmart though but at a regular furniture store.

I certainly didn’t need it but I’m glad that I bought it ... it’s just perfect in there!

I had one empty corner that needed something in it and that was just the thing.

As many of you know, I live on the 7th floor in a hi-rise building and have no balcony but I want one really bad.

Well, I’ve got a nice sized window in my bedroom and so the chair is right by it ...

All I have to do is to turn it around and face the window when I want to and when I sit in it, I have a beautiful view.

So, I decided that when I sit in it ... it’s directly in front of and by the window and I can put my feet up on the window ledge [which is a good width] ...

And then just sit there and rock and look out over the hills and also see what’s going on here in town and it’s almost like a balcony [but just with windows!] a-lol

The one problem is that the chair is a dark colored wood and I really, really wanted a white one but they didn’t have any in white.

So ... this afternoon I’m gonna run out to Walmart and get some primer and some white or off-white paint and am going to paint it!

I know, I know ... I must be one of the only people who’d buy a new piece of furniture and then get it home and paint it [especially since it’s not un-finished wood!]

Still, that’s what I want and when I’m done - it’ll be perfect.

Next, I need to find a set of rocker cushions for it ... I did find a set I really like but ouch, they’re $70.00!

As for my diet, it’s going well and I’m back on track again.

I’d done so well for so long and then last week, oh boy ... I was way out of control.

I’ve gained one pound back but that still is a 30 pound loss and so far this week, I’m doing really good again so I fully expect a loss on Monday!

Well, guess I ought to get for now so I can get ready and catch the bus out to Walmart to get my paint.

I hope you’re all doing good ... I’ll try to get around to visit everybody soon.

Love,

No more emergency fund ...

I can’t believe how lax I’ve got in posting lately and I feel terrible about it.

Maybe what I need to do is to start making it one of my priorities and see if that will help any or not.

How’s everyone been doing? I hope good!

I’ve been doing pretty good ... well, except for my finances and that’s a whole other story.

For quite awhile I had been doing pretty good with putting money in my emergency fund and also in my change jar but ...

This past week I ended up taking every penny out of both of them in order to buy a new cell phone.

Do I love the one I got? Absolutely! Did I need it? Hmm, well - nope I really didn’t but I did want it.

So ... basically now I’m back to where I started with all my balances at zero.

Now I’ve got to get busy and get back on track again with saving ...

This month is pretty much out of the question because I have no money left till June but then I’m gonna buckle down and start again.

Oh ’n this is the phone that I got ...

Sony Ericssib W300i

It’s got so many cool things on it and well, like I said ... I totally love it!

It’s got the following features:

  • An mp3 player

  • FM radio

  • Calendar

  • To Do List

  • Notes

  • Online capabilities

  • An alarm

And much more that I haven’t mentioned. Cool, huh?!

Good news on the weight loss front - as of this morning, I’ve lost the 4 pounds that I’d gained back.

So .. I’m now down a total of 31 pounds! Now I’ve got steam to keep at it and to keep going. happy

My goal is to try to lose another 2 pounds by next Monday and I’m pretty sure that I can do it!

Guess I’ve gotta get for now but will try to get around to visit everyone’s blogs soon.

My week in review ...

Just wanted to post and let you all know that I honestly haven’t jumped ship or anything. Honest! a-lol

For the past few days I’ve been busy in trying to get information on how to proceed with filing for a divorce.

There are so many sites out there and of course, I wanted to find the cheapest [most frugal!] one ...

At first I was planning on doing it myself without an attorney but decided that it’d really be easier if I did get one.

So, I found one out of Pittsburgh and from what the website advertises, it’s supposed to be $160.00 total which isn’t bad at all.

I called today for information on it and should have the packet within the next couple of days.

I’m still on my diet, however for the past week or so - I haven’t done too good with it.

Two weeks ago, I was down 31 pounds but gained four of them back. icon_redface

I’m back on track now though and when I weighed myself this morning, I had lost two of those four back so am still down 29 pounds from when I started.

Hopefully next week’s weigh-in will show me having lost the other two pounds plus maybe one more. [I hope!]

read

Since I got online in ’97, my reading kind of fell to the wayside and until recently ...

I had read for the love and enjoyment of reading until a few months ago and I am thoroughly enjoying it again!

My friend had lent me some of the books in the Left Behind series and then I bought a few of them as well.

Also, I bought about 1/2 dozen other books off from Ebay and it never occured to me to ... go to the library to borrow them.

I was reading a thread on FrugalVillage forums and someone had listed that as a way that they save money and it hit me ...

Hey, why hadn’t I thought of that?! a-lol

I looked online and found that our county library system has a website where you can search the books that they have.

If our library here in town doesn’t have them, they can get them from one of the other libraries in the county.

Well - too cool, I did a search and found a bunch of books that I wanted to buy to read ’n now I won’t have to buy them after all!

Guess I ought to get for now ’cuz I have some things I need to get done yet this evening.

I hope everyone’s doing good and, if for some reason you haven’t found and checked out the FrugalVillage forums,

Please check them out ... there are tons of helpful hints, a lot of inspiration and challenges and wonderful people there as well!
