My husband

My husband is so adorable. Today I walked into my home office to start working, and DH had written a list of reasons why he is thankful for me and put it on my desk. Here's the list -
I am thankful for you because:
*You are on my side even when it seems like the rest of the world has given up on me. *You make me feel sexy even when I'm not dressed up. * You know me and what makes me happy. * You are my best friend and know me better then anyone. * You made a nice life for me possible even when it appeared I had screwed it up. People have said, "She must love you", and I say, "She does", with a smile. * You always want better for us, and you have not settled for "good enough". * You have been driven by your childhood instead of using it as an excuse. * You share the same sick sense of humor that I have. * You put up with me, enough said. * You are the hottie from across the street, I WON!
To explain that last one, I moved in across the street from DH when I was 14. I was a "good girl", and DH was a couple years older then me and was really wild and crazy. I just never would have dreamed of going out with him. Countless people told me that he had a crush on me, but for 3 years he really only said hi to me a couple times.
So - one day I had gotten in a huge fight with my then boyfriend and he dropped my off at my parents house. I didn't feel like going inside, so I just sat on the front porch crying. Then I saw a pizza delivery guy drive up to DH's house, and I saw him answer the door. For some bizarre reason, I decided to go knock on his door and talk to him. I really don't know why on earth I did that. It's totally not like me to go talk to random people I don't know. But anyway, he answered the door and we ended up talking for hours that night. And 10 years later here we are. He always says that the reason he never asked me out is because he never dreamed a girl like me would go out with him. :)
It certainly hasn't been a fairytale by any stretch of the imagination. He definitely was the bad boy I thought he was, and he had a ton of growing up to do. But he has, and I'm incredibly proud of him. He's a wonderful husband, and he's going to make an even better father someday.
A little about me

I signed up for a blog here about 6 weeks ago after loving Frugal Village for a few months, and I still haven't posted an entry so I thought I better get with the program. Having other people read my thoughts makes me nervous for some reason. :)I thought I would tell a little about myself first. I'm 26 and live in a little town in Central Illinois called Mackinaw. The actual town has about 3000 people, but I live just outside the city limits in a big subdivision built around a lake. The subdivision is actually bigger then the town itself with around 4000 people. It's very wooded out here, and we have fishing and campgrounds as well. It's a very quiet, pretty place to live. I work from home as a medical transcriptionist. I've been doing it for almost 2 years, and I absolutely love it. It's perfectly suited to my personality. I got married to my DH (Travis) last May in Jamaica. We've been together almost 10 years though. We actually grew up across the street from each other. He's the Parts Manager at a BMW dealership about 45 minutes from our house. The wedding was absolutely beautiful, but the reason we're still in CC debt is because of it. Hopefully, we should be free in the next 6 months though. We have 3 cats who are our only kids for the time being. Their names are Tyson, Sasha, and Grayson. They are such fat, happy, spoiled kitties! We are planning on getting either a Chocolate Lab for a Golden Retriever in the next few months though. I watch entirely too much TV. I'm a certified reality TV junkie, though I've been trying to cut back lately. Right now I'm only watching The Amazing Race and Survivor. I've love CSI Las Vegas and have seen every episode at least 3 times. Other than that, I love cooking, and my dream is to write my own cookbook someday. I try to follow the FlyLady, but I could really be more disciplined in the housecleaning department. Hi to everyone, and I hope I didn't bore everyone with the all the talk about myself! |
