A Sad Day At Our House Today:(

I was supposed to work today and just before I was on my way out the door I got a phone call from dhs Mother that his father had a massive heart attack an hour prior to calling us and he passed away about an hour ago. Dh is at the airport in Toronto waiting for a flight to British Columbia as he was there working and was supposed to come home tomorrow. I called his boss up to let him know that there was no way Dh could drive the truck with supplies home.....His boss is so good! He told me not to worry,he made arrangements for Dhs flight to his parents and used his airmiles to pay for the flight! He is flying another employee to pick up the truck at the airport to drive back to Quebec. Dh will be back here on Dec 18th.

Just the other day Dh and I were saying, well, it is December, I wonder who is going to pass away this year as it seems like the last 4 years once December comes around a loved one dies. 4 years ago it was Dhs sisters husband 43 years old, 3 years ago it was Dhs sister 39 years old, 2 years ago noone died but Dh spent Christmas Eve and most of Christmas Day in the hospital because they thought he was having a heart attack, last year my stepmother 62 years old passed away and now this year Dhs Father who just turned 65 six weeks ago and was waiting for his first old age pension cheque.

Well now, I went to the I.G.A earlier to take out a bit of money and the van wouldn't start back up. I think it is the starter. DD 13 was running late today and with everything going on but still wanted to go to school so I was going to take her up there but thank goodness she was home cause the mechanic does not speak English and I do not Speak French so dd phoned him.....I am waiting to hear on when I can get the van back or if he has a vehicle I can use till it is fixed. That blasted Van!  Oh well the van is nothing compared to our family losing such a wonderful loving man who was so dear to our hearts.

So there is a change of plans now with the savings .....I will have to transfer the Emergency fund to our bank account and the cc will probably be maxed out as I am not sure that they had any insurance so I imagine we will have to cover most if not all of the funeral but that is ok.... right now it is the least of our worries.

Starting Jan our 2007 goals will be to get a baby emergency fund back up and running, pay off cc debt and to go crazy on funding the emergency fund as I know that my mother and stepfathers health aren't the greatest either and Dh and I are all that they have for helping out and if anything should happen to them dh and I will cover their funerals as well.

It was sooooo hard today, my heart was just breaking. Dh and his parents are so close. I had to phone Dh to tell him about his Pops. Dh was all alone in a hotel room, no family no friends....just all alone. When I called, I asked him what he was doing and he said sitting on his bed in the hotel room and then I told him.So heartbreaking!

Thanks for listening, I am still in shock as I am typing this. Take care and Many Blessings to All

I am so sorry about your father-in-law. It must be a thing about people passing the end of the year. In our family, someone always passes somewhere between the middle of November to the middle of December. My mama always says that she hates to see the end of the year come. Just over the past few days she lost her brother and sister. It's scary. I will keep your family in my prayers during this sad time....Sherry

I am so very sorry for your loss. I am saying prayers for you and your family. There is something about the end of the year; that's when my mom passed away.
