I made this tiny bag today, in an effort to use up some scrap yarns, and to achieve a goal of all reusable gift bags next Christmas.

The pattern is my own, although very simple and easily adapted.

Materials needed:

size 5 knitting needles
small amount of Caron Simply Soft Yarn (mine is dark sage)
tapestry needle
1/2 yd. of 3/8 inch wide ribbon

Cast on 20 stitches
Knit in garter stitch for 4 rows
Next row - knit 1, yarn over, knit 2 together - repeat across, ending yarn over, knit 1.
Next row - purl across
Work in stockinette stitch until piece measures 10 inches from the beginning.
Next row - knit 1, yarn over, knit 2 together- repeat across, ending yarn over, knit 1.
Next row - purl across.
Knit 4 rows of garter stitch.
Bind off.

Fold piece in half, right sides facing.Sew side seams. Weave in ends.  Turn right side out.Weave ribbon through eyelets at top.

I'm thinking I may decide to embelish it later with some cross stitch
motif on the front of the bag.

This is my own pattern.  You may use it as you wish, but please don't
claim it as your own, or sell it.
