Friday, February 16, 2007 - Memories Via Candy

Posted in So Noted

Human brains are so amazingly wired, so completely baffling. I say that because of what I have just experienced.....

I bit into a delicious-smelling piece of dark chocolate (from my Valentine stash that man o' mine gifted me with) and as the taste of the filling exploded inside my mouth, I heard my mother's voice. No, not angels singing because I was experiencing the flavor of most excellent dark chocolate, either!

Mind you, I haven't heard my mother's voice (besides priceless, saved recordings) in 7 years, 3 months and 24 days, but that piece of candy was a flavor my mother really liked and made sure to have around every Christmas. So I had a momentary flash of being in her kitchen, hearing her mention this candy and seeing her eat another piece....

One bite

One instant

One priceless, priceless memory.

I'll take it, oh yes I will.

What a sweet memory... I'm glad that chocolate brought back that happy memory of your mom.

There are certain foods that take me back, too... isn't it amazing how quickly we have those flashbacks?

What a wonderful memory. I love the memories that we tucked back into our minds and then they come to life when we smell something or taste something. I am so glad you had such a nice loving memory today..Blessings and have a great weekend..Kathy

That was a wonderful memory. I lost my mom at an early age and I love the memories I have of her.

I kind of feel the same way whenever I see a cardinal because they were always my mom's favorite birds.

Yes, sweet memories indeed!

Have a nice day, Dana!

Love,

Jennelle
